Some of my colleagues and I are currently doing a book study on the new work by Michael Fullan and Andy Hargraves called, Professional Capital: Transforming Teaching in Every School, and it has some great ideas and insights.
The main premise of the book is that we have to invest in the people in an organization. Make the people better at what they do. Make them invested in their growth, skill development and success. Give them the skills, training and encouragement to grow.
We, as a group of professionals, have the skills and expertise to improve student learning by creating cooperative and collaborative groups within our community. We can invest in helping students achieve more by helping each other.
Not always an easy thing to do, but a worth while endeavour.
