I feel it is very important to show gratitude to those who do for us. I try to show others gratitude on a regular basis (but not so much that it becomes disingenuous). As a teacher I try to teach children that they should show gratitude to their teachers, parents and friends for the things they do to help them out.
Showing a lack of gratitude looks like people are taking things for granted. It won't take long before others lose their motivation. Generally, people don't do things for the accolades, but a simple 'thank you' is all most need to keep going.

The play deficit
Children today are cossetted and pressured in equal measure. Without the freedom to play they will never grow up
Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. If you do not celebrate this holiday, well, Happy Day Off!
I also want to recognize all those people, young and old, who are not fortunate enough to celebrate holidays in desired fashion because of life's circumstances. I know how difficult holidays can be. It's not always possible to be with loved ones or put a meal on the table. Please think of and help out others less fortunate if you can. We sometimes wind up in situations as a result of actions within or beyond our control, but nevertheless we wind up there.
I hope you all have a great day. See you at school tomorrow!
Well, it's been a while since I've checked in, but I thought I'd drop a line.
So, it's been a very busy September (as usual). We have so much going on at our great school...soccer, cross country, academic groups, music, band, peer helpers, safety patrol, and more! What a great school.
Thank you to all the people who make these things possible: staff and students and parents are all responsible for the things that go on at Franklin. Being such a small school, it takes the commitment of a lot of people to make things move. It is great to work with such wonderful students, parents and staff!
The library will be open each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from about 8:15 (usually earlier). Parents and students are welcome to come in and enjoy the space. This is a great time for many students to catch up on homework and complete assignments (especially my computer assignments). Parents, please come in and check out your child's work, help them with homework, or enjoy reading with them.

I will try to update more frequently. As usual, if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to drop me a line on my contact page, or come in to see me at Franklin.
Cheers for now!
